CEU Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex Club

CEU LGBTQI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex) and Heterosexual Allies Club was founded in September 2009 by CEU students and professors in collaboration with the local Hungarian LGBTQI activists and other international student in Budapest. In fact, the foundation of the Club was just the continuation of a long-established tradition of LGBTQI activism at CEU. The major goals of the club are the facilitation of the open debates within the CEU Community regarding the issues of sexual orientation, gender identity, as well as minorities' rights. The activities of the club include organization of social events, lectures, movies screenings, public actions and other forms of activism. The Club also serves as a platform for the intellectual and political debates regarding the latest developments in the fields of gender and feminist studies and politics. By September 2010 the Club presented a network of more than 100 people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Israel and Palestinian territories, Hungary, Croatia, the Unites States of America, Romania, Ukraine, Iran, Chile, Poland, Columbia, Austria, Germany, Spain, Serbia, Philippines, Moldova, Macedonia, Slovenia, Turkey, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Lithuania, People's Republic of China, Jordan and Belarus. Anyone interested in the debates or activism regarding the LGBTQI-related issues can join our Google Group which is the basic mean of communication for the members of the Club.
